Declassified Survival Guide on How to Get Your Brother To Like You

1.Do not ask them about girls before the age of 13.
There is something about little boys that makes them get angry and awkward as soon as a girl is brought up, so in order to avoid making them throw things at you, keep this topic buried until they are post pubescent.
2.Tell them you like their haircut.
At a young age the only thing boys really have to change up is their hair, so even if they come home with an interesting blonde fowhawk such as my brother did, tell them it looks amazing.
3.Share your chocolate.
There is nothing more precious to a 12 year old boy than candy, so sharing that sentimental dairy product will surely bring you closer together.
4.Do not read through their phone.
Sometimes they have little secrets on their phones such as conversations that have one word responses the whole way through, but as amusing as they are to read it is a violation of their privacy.
5.Take them to the movies.
Odds are you will end up seeing some lame action movie or some cartoon that you’ve seen a thousand times, but just going out with them makes them feel special and the movies gives them the feeling of being grown up.
6.Do not embarrass them in front of their friends.
Naturally being an older sister, it is my instinct to put my brother in an embarrassing situation; however it isn’t always the best idea. For example, pushing him in the pool then stealing his clothing and running away may have not been my best idea to date.
7.Stand up for them when it comes to your parents.
Whenever my brother messes up I talk to my parents about how I did it when I was younger and how I’m sure they did as well, it always makes them realize they are being too hard on him. Kind of a disadvantage being the oldest because no one was there to do that for you.
8.Force them to help you pick out an outfit.
Okay they tend to not enjoy this one, but it’s always good bonding time!
9.Let them be friends with your friends.
This allows your little brother to feel as though you want him around and that he is an important part of your life.
10.Love him unconditionally.
They will always mess up and they will always be the first person to say the wrong thing at the wrong time, but they are family and the older you get the more you will wish you kept them as close to you as you could. I love my brother very much and I want us to be best friends for the rest of our lives.
