The Hand You Hold
A Personal Memoir
by Karling Donoghue
What do you think
of a girl with the world
in her pocket
could you tell me?
Gold on her wrists
and some leather on her hips
would you ask her
was it daddy?
how do you know
when your senses are gone
do you wait till
youve gone numb
pools of guilt
lying cold and still
wont allow you
to just have fun
Shes fakin her smile
closin her eyes
green cant cover what she hides
walkin away
in those 6 inch heels
what she dosent feel is
Daddys money cant buy you love
it wont buy you hearts
and it wont buy you fun
oh now darlin
dont run away
just open your eyes
and sit down and stay
step on dirt
dont step on glass
you wont loose your life
and you'll keep all your class
take one bite out of my world
and dont be scared there Daddy's girl
Livin life
behind golden bars
is as dangerous
as the outside
runnin from a
all your demonds
is just useless
no you cant hide
Shes fakin her smile
closin her eyes
green cant cover what she hides
walkin away
in those 6 inch heels
what she dosent feel is
Daddys money cant buy you love
it wont buy you hearts
and it wont buy you fun
oh now darlin
dont run away
just open your eyes
and sit down and stay
step on dirt
dont step on glass
you wont loose your life
and you'll keep all your class
take one bite out of my world
and dont be scared there Daddy's girl
Who do you suppose we are?
When all we do is hide our scars away
Daddys money cant buy you love
it wont buy you hearts
and it wont buy you fun
oh now darlin
dont run away
just open your eyes
and sit down and stay
step on dirt
dont step on glass
you wont loose your life
and you'll keep all your class
take one bite out of my world
and dont be scared there Daddy's girl
